I just got this guitar today..and its not what i was looking for..I mean the guitar looks cool, but the sound wasnt what I wanted..im thinking of taking it back and getting a different guitar..the reason I dodnt like it was because im those type of people who listen to heavy metal and like distortion..and this guitar’s sound sounded soo weak to me…I tried playing some heavy stuff, but it sounded terrible…anyways..what should i exchange it for?

Keep in mind that Squire is Fenders student line, but that doesn’t mean anything is wrong with it.

It is probably your amp settings. If your amp doesn’t allow "overdrive" or "distortion" then you need to have an amp or effects box that reproduces what you want.

How about THIS novel idea… if you learn to play "clean" first your efforts in the heavy metal arena will sound MUCH better. There are many heavy metal guitarists that played classical music first then moved to dirt and distortion.

there is nothing wrong with the guitar. the sounds you are trying to get are produced through effects pedals. you can get a zoom pedal with prolly 40 or so pre set sounds for $100 or less, depending on where you look. also, the amp you are using has a lot to do with the sound.

Squire Affinity series is not the greatest electric guitar out there. I’m assuming your still a beginner, and your purposes, it should suit you fine. If your really into the heavy stuff (althought I’m not too familiar with it) try some of the ibanez guitars…
